Examples of assignments undertaken

We have a great track record in large-scale and international restructuring/insolvency cases.

  • Advised Japan Airlines on its filing for corporate reorganization proceedings (2010), and advised a major electrical appliance manufacturer on its early-stage restructuring (2013 through 2016).
  • Represented debtor enterprises regarding their filing for civil rehabilitation; for example, JOLED (2023), REINOWA group including FCNT and JEMS (2023), Daiichi Chuo Kisen (2015), and Emori Group Holdings (2015).
  • Advised Toshiba Corporation on the sale of its claim against Westinghouse for US$2.16 billion (2018) and on the issuance of its shares worth US$5.3 billion (2017) via a third-party allotment.
  • Advised creditors on all areas of in-court proceedings and out-ofcourt workouts, including an automotive OEM creditor in Takata’s civil rehabilitation, bitcoin creditors in Mt. Gox’s bankruptcy/civil rehabilitation, the creditors in Skymark Airlines’ civil rehabilitation, he representative of creditors in Elpida Memory’s corporate reorganization, and creditors in Sanko Steamship’s corporate reorganization.
  • Advised major financial creditors on the corporate reorganization proceedings against Ise Group (2022) and the restructuring of Marelli Holdings (2022).
